Both paintings and photographs are on display. Jared A. Dominique is a fine artist, student and teacher currently pursuing his MFA at Syracuse University. Through painting, he employs techniques to repeat patterns experienced in nature and in modern cartography. Parker L. is an art director, graphic designer and fine art photographer with a BFA from the University of Nevada Las Vegas. The duo met in Las Vegas while attending college, connecting over their shared love of art, the desert, death and what lies beyond the veil. The two moved across the country with Parker’s pet rabbit to Geneva, New York for Jared to attend graduate school. Their current work captures their transition from the noisy, colorful heat of Las Vegas to the historic, dark and snowy Finger Lakes region of upstate New York. Their work is infused with an underlying thread of Americana, not in the nostalgic sense but as a documentation of the synchronicities and talismans found across the psychic American experience. This aspect of their work often manifests in subtle ways, through the use of iconic imagery, color palettes that evoke a sense of place, or the juxtaposition of natural and man-made elements. They are particularly interested in how the patterns found in nature mirror those in the human body and how these patterns connect us to the cosmos.
